One playthrough followed by New Game Plus: If you choose to go this route let me know if there is other information that would’ve been particularly helpful. The tips section lists the mechanics that I found super helpful on an Elite playthrough and the missions section give tips and information on specific enemies and missions. That being said, doing it on the first playthrough is possible and a lot of the information in this guide is meant specifically to help with this. Based on these features, I would recommend using this method. I haven’t confirmed this, but rare hats seem to spawn more frequently on New Game Plus. It also makes getting the hat achievements a lot less grindy. You will also be very familiar with the mechanics and you can run through New Game Plus very quickly. The main benefit of using New Game Plus for this achievement is that you get to keep all of your characters and can handpick your party at the start of Act 1. I then completed the game on Elite with New Game Plus to get Higher than the Sun. After finishing the game I farmed for hats and got the Madly Maxed achievement. I earned the achievement by first playing through on Experienced/Elite. This can be done either with a new save game or with new game plus after beating the game once on any difficulty. So as long as you don’t have to repeat a bunch of missions this really shouldn’t be an issue. I also replayed The Average Escape and aborted/failed 4 missions during my first playthrough. The first time I purposefully played very cautiously and took extra turns to position my crew outside of rooms before opening doors or taking cover from bosses. I completed the game in 739 turns the first time and 586 the second time. The only downside to replaying a mission is that it will require extra turns, pushing you slightly closer to the limit.įor part (2), this actually isn’t that difficult and I got under 699 turns on both my playthroughs. If you do finish a mission without full reputation you can replay it to try and achieve full reputation. Keeping all of your crew alive isn’t too difficult with the reloading method (mentioned below under General Tips and Gameplay Mechanics) and there is only one Epic Swag that requires a specific loadout to get (The Average Escape). Reputation is lost by having a crew mate get scrapped (killed) during the mission. For part (1), reputation is earned in each mission by completing the objectives and collecting the Epic Swag. The most difficult part will be (3), but with this guide I hope to make it as easy as possible. (2) Completing the game in 699 turns or less without DLC or 799 turns or less with the DLC, and Basically: love.Higher Than The Sun is awarded for completing the game on Elite difficulty with an all gold Steamworld Ranking. Worth it if you are a fan of games like WORMS, or games with gorgeous presentation, addictive mechanics and loads of character. I'd also recommend playing the prequels first, not just because they are fun games but because otherwise some of the big twists won't be quite as effective. Especially early on when all the missions pay peanuts XP. If you are a perfectionist / terrible gamer like me and just have to have that four star rating even after the way forward has been opened you have some grinding in store. There's several characters to meet and hire throughout the campaign, each with their own set of abilities they learn by leveling up, all to a max level of 10. There are even some solo missions for only one character. The number of party members allowed for each mission can also change, depending on its difficulty. It has a very basic randomization on the level layout and enemies selected each time you enter most missions, though some story-important missions are always the same. There's 3 "worlds" with about 10-15 levels each.
